Nnena - Lovesick

Introducing Cleveland-based first generation Nigerian-American neo-soul singer and rapper Nnena (née Nnena Adigwe) who has just released her debut single called "Lovesick." Produced by Charles Scott IV, the song is accompanied by a gripping music video directed by filmmaker, screenwriter and Sundance hitmaker JD Dillard (Sleight, Sweetheart). Nnena is also the first official artist signed to Loud Robot, the newly launched independent record label from famed film director JJ Abrams’ production company Bad Robot.

"Nnena's a powerhouse artist," J.J. Abrams told Teen Vogue of his first signee. "[She's] daring, insightful, and brilliantly talented. We couldn’t feel prouder to be working with her."

A record sprung from passion, heartbreak and taking back power, "Lovesick" celebrates our flaws and breaks down how the different sides of one's self reacts, responds and repairs after loss. Revered for her humor and ferocity, the multi-talented artist also made many of the video's character costumes which represent her own aspirational personas.

Nnena's inspiration comes from female MC storytelling elites. Lauryn Hill, Aretha Franklin, Missy Elliot and Queen Latifah line the inside locker of her mind. She has taken her hard hitting hooks and flowing melodies across the US, performing alongside WS Boogie, Mayorkun and Trinidad James. "This project is a diary of musical secrets coming to light by the right type of bitch," says Nnena. "A liberating fuck you to anyone who has felt pain by anyone. I want my music to be the light at the end of a damaged person’s tunnel."
