Fancy - 69 (EP)

"69" is the new single from Parisian glam-rockers Fancy and the eighth release for Jerry Bouthier and Andrea Gorgerino's label Continental Records. The EP includes remixes by JBAG, Jean Tonique and Gush available May 6th.

Pre-order iTunes

Fancy is a glittery confection of everything wild and catchy in rock music from the '50s onward. They borrow a bit from disco, funk, hair metal, and rockabilly, and cite Elvis Presley, Mozart, and David Lee Roth as inspirations, but above all, they keep the flamboyant flame of '70s glam rock burning bright.

If "69" owes a thing or two to his Purple highness, it’s also a furiously modern pop tune effortlessly fusing sticky guitar licks and vintage synths in one steamy outburst that commands you to break into funky pogo. As always the package boasts the original and a handful of remixes aimed at djs. Continental’s own JBAG slow the pace down but not the jump-up factor for an irresistible disco-rock extravaganza. New kid on the blogs Jean Tonique does his funky French indie thing and gives the song a blue-eyed soul coating. Finally, Parisian rockers Gush – 2 brothers and 2 cousins – take a starker, almost leftfield approach that gives the song yet another axis.

So Fancy "69", lust and sleaze all around? Or fusional love’s playful eulogy?
