Ann Yu’s soft, dream-like vocals help maintain the sensual vulnerability of the original version, but the gloomy electronic pulses that drive the cover take it into a much darker territory than Del Rey would dare. Silver Swans say they made the track a “bit more ‘wintery’ for the holidays,” and the end result successfully conjers up visions of swirling blizzards and snow-covered landscapes. So as the temperature drops and winter begins to settle in, this cover comes just in time. X
