Ashley Sonlin - Breaking The Mold

Introducing 22-year-old New York-based singer/songwriter Ashley Sonlin, who studied music business at Berklee College of Music in Boston. Even before studying at Berklee, Ashley has demonstrated her performance chops in various venues. In high school, she volunteered to play at nursing homes and charitable benefits. Not to mention, she also opened for Micah Sloat of the film Paranormal Activity at The House of Blues in Cleveland, Ohio, and performed at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, standing on the same stage as musical legends Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynn, and Hank Williams. Now with sights set on her solo career, Ashley has just released her empowering debut single called "Breaking The Mold", which was produced and mixed by Fernando Familiar (Wolfside, Night Lights and noé).

In an email, Ashley tells us:

"I wrote this song about how, as an amputee, I want to show the world that we don't all have to be that 'perfect' cookie cutter person. We all have things that make us different, which is what I think actually makes us special".

Listen to "Breaking The Mold" below and be sure to check out more original songs and covers by Ashley on her YouTube channel.

"Breaking The Mold" is available now on iTunes.
