Lorine Chia - Strange Fruit

Listen to fast rising Cleveland-based songstress Lorine Chia's rendition of "Strange Fruit", which she recorded after widespread speculation that a Holiday sample used by Kanye West on his sixth studio album, Yeezus included a sample of "Strange Fruit" thought to be recorded by Lorine Chia. In the end though it turned out to be a case of mistaken identity. Nonetheless, Chia's cover of "Strange Fruit" does indeed do the original justice.

"Strange Fruit" is a poem written by Abel Meeropol and recorded by the legendary Billie Holiday which eventually became one of Billie Holiday's most iconic songs and later included in the list of Songs of the Century, by the Recording Industry of America and the National Endowment for the Arts.
