Chløë Black - Waterbed

Australian born, Los Angeles-based songstress Chløë Black previously wooed us into submission with songs like "27 Club", "Cruel Intentions" and "Wild At Heart", all of which were melodramatic, soulful and reminiscent of a tortured Hollywood starlet. Now she's back and better than ever with a harder exterior, perfectly applied makeup, and bleached blonde hair while also dawning the new nickname "The White Witch". On her new single, Black invites both new and old fans alike to delve into the next chapter of her story as she opts for a new sound, which sees her adopt a combination of nostalgic grunge and retro pop while her seductive vocal delivery remains on point. We're also told this is just the first taste in a batch of new material still to come although not a permanent departure from her previous style.

Speaking on the track, Chløë tells The Beat:

"I grew up partly in Seattle during the nineties and because of that grunge has a big place in my heart. 'Waterbed' is symptomatic of my nineties nostalgia but shot through a 2017 lens. I don't want to say too much about it because I prefer when people are able to interpret things their own way - but I will say that to me the song is more than just literal."
