Iris Gold - Goldmine

Introducing exciting newcomer Iris Gold, who according to the single's press release grew up in Freetown Christiana, a self-proclaimed autonomous neighborhood in Copenhagen with a famously liberal/free-thinking anything-goes culture. Surrounded by the music of 60’s and 70’s psychedelia and hippy counter-culture, it wasn't until she reached her early teens that she came to discover more contemporary music, getting into hip hop through the likes of Pete Rock, Beastie Boys and De La Soul. Now living in London, Iris has since started writing her own songs which fuses together beat driven loops with lyrics rooted in her background in storytelling and west coast pop influences. Today, we're pleased to share with you her rather infectious debut single called "Goldmine", a perfect addition to your summer playlist which (presumably) serves as the first song to be lifted from her forthcoming debut EP due out later this year. Having already garnered the attention of MNEK and Ali Tennant, not to mention booked to support both Blur and Taylor Swift at their upcoming BST (British Summer Time) performances at Hyde Park later this month, Iris Gold is fast becoming an artist we should all be keeping a very close watch on. Listen to "Goldmine" below.

"Goldmine" is due for release on July 2nd.

Premiere via Complex.
