Swedish artist Maja Francis has today released her new single and most beautifully soaring track to-date called "Come Companion", which also serves as the lead single and title track taken from her debut EP, also released today via Sweden Music / Universal Sweden in all territories excluding the US, which will see the release this Friday, January 15th.
The Come Companion EP comes on the heels of a big 2015 including the release of Maja's debut single "Last Days of Dancing," an ode to ever-fleeting youth, which was accompanied by a stunning video that brought Maja's striking vibrancy to the forefront. Noisey described it as, "a fantastical high fashion shoot in moving high def."
The newest signee to Sweden Music / Universal Music, also home to soul-pop rising star Seinabo Sey, Maja Francis touches down with a sweeping breath of fresh air, twisting soaring soprano melodies through cool Nordic sonic architectures building a fantastical yet melancholic take on modern pop.
Speaking on the track, Maja says:
"'Come Companion' is an anthem to my friends, to myself, and everyone who sometimes feels like reality hurts and you can't see the rainbows for all the clouds. I want us to know that we don’t have to be alone in that process and that all we have is now. So why not take each other's hands when it’s scary, instead of crawling into our shells by ourselves, and try to be strong. It's OK to be sad and to be weak; your tears will dry and become glitter on your cheek."
Listen to "Come Companion" plus her cover of Billy Joel's "Just The Way You Are" below.
