SOFI TUKKER - Matadora

Having first came to our attention back in September with their debut single, "Drinkee" (which perhaps you might have previously heard on this Apple Watch commercial), New York City-based duo SOFI TUKKER, comprised of Sophie Hawley-Weld and Tucker Halpern make a welcome return today with their second single called "Matadora", a track led by a pulsing riff performed on the Charango, a traditional Andean instrument. Blending the classically inspired touch with rhythmic throbs - hand claps, shaker, aggressive synths and a four-to-the-floor beat. – the track breathes like a vigorous dance off set in a bullfighting pit, with vocalist Sophie Hawley-Weld’s slinking melody and chanted, obscured lyrics serving as the perfect incantation to lure any listener into submission.

Listen to "Matadora" below and stay tuned for more new music from the SOFI TUKKER as they're currently preparing for the release of their forthcoming self-titled debut EP, due out later this year via HeavyRoc Music.

SOFI TUKKER will be joining The Knocks on their upcoming "Route 55" North American tour kicking off on January 14th at Baby's All Right in Brooklyn, NY. Cardiknox, who just yesterday unveiled the music video for their single, "On My Way" will also be supporting. For dates and ticket info. Click here.

Premiere via The Fader.
