Following on from her previous single, "Honey", released earlier this summer, New-York-based singer/songwriter Charlene Kaye, aka KAYE, who is also the frontwoman for indie rock group San Fermin, returns today with her new single called "UUU" (pronounced 'You'), which seamlessly combines elements of 80's dance-pop with some fancy guitar playing to create a truly memorable and highly infectious offering that is sure to be one of the many standout tracks off her forthcoming 5-song debut EP, Honey, due out on August 19th.
Speaking on the track, KAYE says:
"When I wrote 'UUU' I was listening to a lot of 90s R&B, a lot of Dream and 3LW. That summer, 'Call Me Maybe; was on rotation constantly and I was obsessed with it. I was like, 'I'm going to write a pop song of Carly-level caliber and pitch it to her.' It began as a genre experiment, but I ended up really connecting with the song and keeping it.
The song is about the intoxication of falling in love – getting swept up in physical and emotional passion, feeling overwhelmed but also very safe and comfortable being yoursef with this person."
