Kan Wakan - I Had To Laugh

Bulgarian-native, Los Angeles-based producer, film composer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Kan Wakan (real name Gueorgui Linev) has today unveiled his new single called "I Had To Laugh", which also serves as the third single following "Molasses" and "I Would" to be lifted from his upcoming triple-LP titled Phantasmagoria, due out in mid-May. A delicately sorrowful ballad steeped in poignant nostalgia, "I Had To Laugh" features guest vocalist Rachel Fannan, a local acquaintance turned musical collaborator, whose chemistry on the track was instant. As Liven describes, "it felt like the energy in the room shifted and we had landed on something we both felt very intensely in the moment... it didn’t matter if it didn’t make complete sense right away, it just made enough sense to know wherever it leads is a place both Rachel and I wanted to be." The album also incorporates guest vocalists and collaborations as well as additional orchestral flourishes throughout from the Sofia Philharmonic, a symphony orchestra hailing from Linev's hometown of Sofia, Bulgaria.

Listen to "I Had To Laugh" below.

Phantasmagoria will be pressed on limited edition vinyl and is available for pre-order here.

Premiere via Consequence of Sound.
