Having first come to our attention last year with the release of her debut single, "Aphrodite", New Zealand-based electronic pop artist Alma Leta returns today with her second offering called "18". Produced by Nik Brinkman, "18" is written from the perspective of someone reflecting on a past love.
Alma is heavily inspired by the relationships of her parent’s generation and the ebbs and flows of romance. She embraces concepts of fondness and tender respect between lovers who’ve drifted apart with time. The verses in this track embody the fragile, sometimes strenuous journey of a relationship, where the chorus holds the moment of clarity and intimacy between two people.
Nik's production coupled with Alma’s lyrics and vocals blend into a sonic atmosphere of teenage angst meets nostalgia. The soundscape is a sleepy, melancholic texture reminiscent of that feeling at the end of a great party: a mess was made but so were memories.
