Having released her debut EP, Chromatic, as well as her follow-up single, "Prove It" last year, both which of received praise and support from notable tastemakers across the board, New York City-based alternative R&B songstress Hannah Taxman, aka IYVES, returns today with her first offering of 2019 called "Gold", a wonderfully cinematic and monumentous track that further cements her reputation as a true powerhouse vocalist. Co-written with Mori Einsidler and produced by Lucas Hass, "Gold" is about finding someone that treats you better than you've ever experienced, as if you didn't know it could get better. The song starts off with some skepticism and mystery, but then establishes that you can't get enough and that you recognize how rare and special this circumstance is - something that many people can relate to!
Speaking on the track, IYVES tells CelebMix:
"I co-wrote this song with my good friend Mori Einsidler alongside producer Lucas Hass. Mori and I were discussing the beginning of a new relationship and how it can be frightening when it feels too good to be true. It’s sort of bitter sweet because all you want to do is be fully in it, yet, you hold back because you’re not totally convinced it’s that good. But, come the pre- chorus/chorus I state, that it is what I feel and more. This song was all written and recorded in Luke’s bedroom, and was actually the first song all three of us created together!"
