For its fourth release Continental welcomes Australia’s RÜFÜS for a collection of remixes of their tracks ‘This Summer’ and ‘Selena’.
Brought together by a stormy Byron Bay night and a mutual love of electronic music, RÜFÜS are what happens when a self-taught folk singer/songwriter, a deep house producer and a 4/4 driven drummer write tunes to heat your Saturday nights and warm your Sunday afternoons.
After shaking the blogoshpere with several EPs and catching the attention of Kitsuné which have licensed one of their tracks for Gildas & Jerry’s Soleil mix released by the label, the trio is soon to start work on a debut album pencilled for 2013 - and lots more touring of course, as RÜFÜS are no mere bedroom project. George, Lindqvist and Hunt have been gathering a loyal cult following, selling out shows in Sydney, Melbourne and beyond, as well as supporting Royksøpp, Yuksek, Van She and many others…
On the remixes, first Continental’s own JBAG - Bouthier and Gorgerino - deliver one of their best to date by turning out ‘This Summer’ into a poptastic, dancefloor-friendly smash. Next, Australia’s finest join in the fun. The mighty Softwar hits a sombre vibe until Summer of Love pianos flip things around, whilst Parachute Youth get the big synths out and craft a ballad you can dance to. Last but not least, RÜFÜS themselves have crafted an esoteric, almost minimal rendition. Then on ‘Selena’, soon-to-be big Lancelot goes for a deep, funky excursion packed with musical highs and lows. Frames ends the package with a bouncy balearic make-over, ideal for those sun rising moments.
