Ester Rada - Life Happens (EP)
Ester Rada’s cross-cultural sound is a deep reflection of the Israeli born Ethiopian’s heritage. Growing up in a highly religious Jewish family- and growing up in more than modest conditions in one of the roughest neighborhoods of Tel Aviv gave Rada the drive to change her way of life and fulfill her dream of creating music.
Critics describe her genre mixing sound as "gracefully combining Ethio-Jazz, funk, soul and r&b, with mixed undertones of black grooves"
Ester has most recently teamed up with acclaimed Israeli producers Kuti (Kutiman/Thru-You) and Sabbo (Soulico), to release her first self-written and composed solo EP.
With strong influences from early 20th century soul power women such as Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald, and a vocal range like Aretha Franklin; as well as more contemporary black divas like Eryka Badu, Lauryn Hill, and Jill Scott; Rada is bringing a new voice to soul that is already spreading worldwide.
Already boasting international performances throughout Israel, Australia, U.S., Canada, Switzerland, and Germany; Ester Rada is confirmed to take on 3 major festivals in Europe for June-September 2013, dates in New York on March 2013, with many more to come
Ester Rada debut EP, Life Happens is available now on Bandcamp.
