Introducing: Luna Aura

Say hello to multi-talented Phoenix-based singer/songwriter and producer Luna Aura. Born in San Diego, California and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, Aura discovered her talents for singing at age three and began writing music at age ten. Her passion for songwriting and performing became her life at an early age, and has continued producing music for the past five years.

Sent from outer space with sounds of rebellion, enchantment, and seduction, Aura bends genres as she boldly blends R&B with trap beats and trippy synths, mixing in refreshing indie sounds with Top 40 hooks. Her lyrics contain statements on youth, pop culture and feminism and her obsession with hip-hop culture stays true with profound lyrics of self-identification and bold proclamations.

Still somewhat unknown, Luna Aura is relatively new to the game. Her fan base is also rather small. With just over 700 fans on Facebook and currently less than 500 followers on Twitter, it may seem like the young newcomer may have quite the uphill battle to fame. However, through the release of her eponymous, 5-song debut EP, recorded at Capitol Studios in Los Angeles and released in late August, as well as an inclusion in the Ahead of the Curve section of iTunes, Luna Aura makes quite the stride toward national prominence.

"This EP is a celebration of growth." Aura explains, "Every song contains every little thing I've learned over the past year. What it is to be independent, what it is to be in love, what it is to be a woman, and what it is to be proud of the person I've become." Aura's love for hip-hop has a strong presence on this record as well, as she daringly raps on "Blow," a song so fearless, it begs to be an anthem of empowerment for women everywhere. The EP also has huge pop moments as evident in "Radio," a song with a chorus so naturally infectious, it's impossible to forget: You got me hooked like a song on the radio / beat so good boy, I can't let you go.

Aura aims to inspire and empower people all over the world through her art and music.

"I have always wondered what it is that draws me to music. Why I desire to write, to perform, and where it all began. I don’t know if I'll ever fully understand myself in that sense, and maybe I'm not supposed to. All I know is that we're all born with something special, a power if you will. Each one just as beautiful as the next. We spend our whole lives growing, learning, and honing in on these powers in hopes that we can somehow find a way to share them with someone. This is just how I've chosen to share mine."

Luna Aura's debut EP is available now on iTunes.
