Following last year's release of her critically acclaimed debut EP,
Saudade and her recent cover of Beyoncé's "
No Angel", emerging Brooklyn-based artist Valerie Teicher, better known as Tei Shi returns today with a dazzling display of italo synth perfection found in her new single, "Bassically", co-produced by
Gianluca Buccellati (Yellerkin, Hanah). "
Is that what you want, like the other boys? Someone you can flaunt like the other toys?", she sings as she tackles an unfortunately, all-too-common form of everyday sexism. With her debut album
reportedly due out sometime next year, this new single serves as a first glimpse of a larger set of material this exciting newcomer has been writing, recording and producing lately, the rest of which is forthcoming on Mermaid Avenue in the US and
Double Denim in the UK.
