Staffordshire-born, London-based singer/songwriter Laura Welsh has just unveiled her new single entitled "Ghosts", written by Welsh herself along with Jonathan Lipsey (Alicia Keys, Amy Winehouse) and produced by Greg Kurstin (The Shins, Beck, Lily Allen) at his Echo Studio in Los Angeles. The single is taken from her recently announced forthcoming debut album
Soft Control scheduled for release on January 19th in the UK via Outsiders/Polydor, and will include her acclaimed previous singles "
Break The Fall", "
Cold Front" and "
Unravel". On the record she also collaborated with an eclectic bunch of co-stars including indie polymath
Dev Hynes, Robin Hannibal from R&B minimalists duo
Rhye, Emile Haynie (Lana Del Ray, Kanye West),
Scissor Sisters' Babydaddy and Amanda Ghost, as well as an incredible duet with
John Legend on "Hardest Part".
"Ghosts is about learning lessons from situations and overcoming them instead of being pulled under," says Welsh. "To let go of the past and flick the switch on to the future."
Soft Control is now available to pre-order on
iTunes.
