Winner of several awards including the Edmonton Virgin Radio Star Competition in 2012, Lexi won the opportunity to travel west to record her first single, "Turning Point" in Vancouver with chart-topping songwriter Mike James (Kelly Rowland, Kreesha Turner, Shilo). The song eventually led her to win the Astral Media's Breakthrough Artist award and soon afterwards, the song began to receive national airplay throughout Canada.
Lexi's next track "Unstoppable" was featured on the CW's hit series Beauty & The Beast, and by January 2013, she released her follow-up, "All For You", a collaboration between songwriters Mike James, Stef Lang (who also has new single out called "Burn It To The Ground", which you can check out here), and Davey Badiuk (Dragonette). Lexi again went on to receive radio play across Canada and the song was featured in both the hit TV Sci-Fi series Continuum and popular Canadian series Degrassi: The Next Generation.
After plugging into the Vancouver music scene, Lexi began honing her songwriting skills under the mentorship of world-class producer Jeff Dawson (Danial Powter, Kelly Rowland, State of Shock, The Dudes) and top 10 Canadian recording artist Laurell ("Can't Stop Falling", "Unbreakable"). Toting her favourite albums with her and pages of handwritten notes, Lexi fearlessly focused every songwriting session towards her artistic discovery.
All the hard work was worth it though. In May 2014, Lexi won Bell Media's Future Star for her single, “Chances”, which peaked at #34 on the AC Canadian Radio Chart. The success of the single drew the attention of indie label and production team Hands Up! Music, who quickly jumped on board and a signed her to a management deal and will now soon be releasing her long-awaited debut EP. due out later this summer. The first single to be lifted from the EP is called "Antitode" - a gritty British-sounding pop song with infectious vocal hooks and a behind the beat swagger that can't be ignored.
