Following her debut single "Monster Kids", released earlier this year, Sydney-based artist LISHI now returns with the unveiling of her stunning second single entitled "Dropping Back", along with the track's accompanying black and white visuals directed by Madeleine Purdy. "Dropping Back" tells an emotional story about the suffocating embrace of anxiety and the sweetness of relief through intricate instrumentation, gritty percussion and LISHI’s striking vocals, as they build to a climactic release. LISHI’s innate skill for creating emotional intensity in her melodies is complemented by the production talents of Antonia Gauci (Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Alison Wonderland & Vallis Alps) who helped craft the song.
Speaking on the track, LISHI says:
"Working with Antonia was everything I could have asked for. I brought her the lyrics, song structure and chord progression and we just clicked straight away. She understood the song exactly as I did and the whole recording process was so easy and a dream, I’m super excited about what we've created"
Director Madeleine Purdy adds:
"The video visually explores anxiety and feelings of being overwhelmed. It’s a portrait of a woman paralysed as a faceless threat approaches her. She struggles to move or breath in the face of this threat, and equally struggles to pull herself from the throes of her reaction when it becomes apparent that there is no threat - she is being covered in warmth and light."
