Spanish alt-pop songstress Sofi de la Torre has today released her evocative new single called "Flex Your Way Out" which features multi-talented Los Angeles-based artist Blackbear. The track finds the two singers mirroring their dreamy vocals over Finnish pop producer Jonas Karlsson's soothing, trap-infused instrumental. Whilst Sofi del la Torre is exposing a darker and more introverted side, as she laments the end of a relationship, the overall feel is one of closure and optimism. The repeated refrain "go ahead and play with another, not me, I'm done" is delivered in such a manner as to project a sense of calm and control through the emotion. This is a powerful talent that is prevalent throughout her work, and has seen her championed by Billboard, i-D, Noisey, TIME Magazine and The Guardian.
Speaking on how the collaboration came together, Sofi explains:
"I've always had it in the back of my mind that our voices would sound great together, so I sent him (Blackbear) a message after writing this track in Helsinki. He got back to me straight away with that killer verse and vocal and I've had it on repeat ever since!"
Resolutely independent, Sofi's latest release provides an introverted perspective to her unique pop style. Performing under the banner of #PopDoneRight, she continues to stress how pop should be heartfelt, original and accessible. "Flex Your Way Out' serves as an introduction for many and embodies the sound that Sofi has pioneered, whilst standing as a testament to her artistic growth in 2016.
