Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter Evalyn returns today to deliver her brand new single called "Rather Be Dead", a devastatingly beautiful R&B-infused pop gem which starts off like a slinky night call and brims with emotional anguish as Evalyn's impressive yet vulnerable vocals speak on the agonies of heartbreak. Produced by Rockwell Sands, "Rather Be Dead" also serves as the third single following "
Filthy Rich" and "
Cherry Lambo" to be taken from her forthcoming 5-track debut EP
Sandcastle, due out on October 27th.
Speaking on the track, Evalyn says:
"
There's this unreal studio on the westside (of LA) called The Lair with a really soulful piano. I had gone through a recent heartbreak and I ended up hanging there with my band and yelling at the keys til 4am. I wrote 'Rather Be Dead' about that tiny shred of dignity and pride that you hold onto that lets you walk away from bad love."
