EMM - Cali Boy

Following her previous single, "Adderall", released last month, Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter, producer, performer and women’s advocate EMM returns today and in full force with her latest offering called "Cali Boy". Written and produced by EMM heself along with Zoe Fisher and Taylor Wilzbach, “Cali Boy” is a fresh and innovative take on the traditional alt-rock anthem.

Speaking on the track, EMM says:

"When I wrote 'Cali Boy' I was thinking a lot about the worldwide awakening of women that is happening right now as we begin to set higher standards for the kind of treatment we will accept. In the midst of the Me Too and Times Up movement, I have so much gratitude for the men who stand by us as allies and separate themselves from the pack to do what's right. While the verses highlight the current battles we are fighting, the chorus is my “thank you” to “my Cali Boy” for being empathetic, kind, and compassionate and using his privilege to combat all forms of injustice and inequality."

EMM has been likened to the vocal prowess of Matt Bellamy (Muse) and carries a spirit of empowerment similar to that which radiates from Beyonce. As a classically trained musical prodigy from a conservative, small town in Michigan, most didn’t expect her to arrive at such an alternative sound with such tenacious demeanor, let alone emerge from the ringer of the music industry strengthened rather than defeated. From the Big Apple to Los Angeles, she has passionately pursued her calling in cities across the United States.
