Brooklyn-based singer/songwriter Chloe Kohanski, better known as chloe mk, has just released her debut EP entitled Fantasy via Republic Records, and among the six-track collection includes her breakout single "To Be Young" and the standout track "David Bowie."
On "David Bowie" chloe mk explains the single is not only about the loss of an idol, but "about what it feels like to lose someone you actually know, and love, and spend every day with. It’s not poetic…It’s not pretty…It just hurts and there's no point in acting like it doesn't."
Throughout the entire EP, chloe uses sticky melodies and infectious production as a vehicle for vivid storytelling and deeply personal examinations within her Y2K world. There’s genuinely something for everyone as tracks like "I Can't Stop" provide ample material to soundtrack crying in the club while tracks like "Praying For Me" take the nuances of love to a spiritual level.
Cutting her teeth on rock music in small Nashville bars and clubs before winning Season 13 of NBC's The Voice in 2017 and subsequently moving to New York City, chloe mk eventually found pop music as the proper avenue to express her authentic self and grapple with youth in the digital age. Conjuring up her unique brand of "internet-pop," she quickly signed to Republic Records where her introspective yet wonderfully high-energy music looks to be championed through Fantasy and beyond.
