On the heels of her critically acclaimed debut EP Hindsight 20/20 and ahead of her highly anticipated Lollapalooza performance, 20-year-old Phoenix-based songstress UPSAHL has today shared her new single entitled "Wish You’d Make Me Cry", out now via Arista Records. The critically praised indie-pop darling once again delivers an undeniable anthem. The squeal of a siren dips into a plucky bass groove before she admits, "When I’m getting bored, I start some drama." This confession sets the tone for the track as UPSAHL leaps past pop and electronic stylings into a hypnotic refrain, "Sometimes, I wish you’d make me cry."
Speaking on the track, UPSAHL says:
"'Wish You'd Make Me Cry' is about being with someone who is so good to you that it almost seems fake. When I wrote this song with Pete Nappi, I was caught up in that feeling, so I started just venting to him about it. At one point, I think I said something along the lines of 'I just wish that he would make me cry'. We wrote the song within an hour after that."
To celebrate the release of “Wish You’d Make Me Cry”, UPSAHL will kick off a string of summer tour dates across the U.S. First up, she joins Shallou for an official Lollapalooza aftershow at Chop Shop on July 31 and takes the stage at the festival August 2nd. Afterwards, she performs alongside Young the Giant and Fitz and The Tantrums on August 11th in Phoenix, AZ before joining Tessa Violet on tour throughout August and September.
