Following the success of her previous single "Giving Up", which garnered critical acclaim from the likes of Earmilk, The Hype Magazine and Music Is My Radar as well as airplay on SiriusXM, Nashville-based pop songstress and Berklee College of Music alumni Elise Hayes returns today with her highly anticipated new single called "New York City", a dreamy, danceable mid-tempo track that chronicles distance in a relationship, and the spontaneous choices that are made as a remedy. "This song is a true story," says Hayes. "In my own relationship, we are both touring constantly. I have a fierce desire to be independent, but missing someone makes you so vulnerable at the same time. Sometimes you’ll fly to New York City on a whim, or do something out of the blue just because you miss your person."
Speaking to the motivation behind "New York City", Hayes adds:
"'New York City' is about missing someone. Being apart from the person you love can make you vulnerable and spontaneous, even if you have a fierce desire to remain independent. Sometimes you'll fly to a city on a whim, or do something crazy just to be next to your person. I'm also very proud that this song was written and produced by two women, myself and Danielle Blakey."
