2011 ARIA Award winners

All the winners from the 2011 ARIA Awards have now been announced.

Boy & Bear and Gotye proved to be the big winners, sharing 11 gongs between them.

Sydney's Boy & Bear, who took out the Unearthed J Award just a year ago, claimed Best Group, Album Of The Year, Best Adult Alternative and Best Breakthrough Artist Album and Single.

While on stage accepting their award for Best Breakthrough Artist Album drummer Tim Hart said the band are grateful but "I think that the best album of the year is The Middle East (for I Want That You Are Always Happy) but that's just me".

"I'm going to get in trouble for that".

With his latest album Making Mirrors falling ineligible for the awards by just 24 hours, Gotye claimed all 6 of his awards just through his single 'Somebody That I Used To Know ft. Kimbra'. Those included Best Male Artist and Single Of The Year.

Other acts taking home shiny statues were Art vs Science for Best Independent Release, Kimbra for Best Female Artist as well as Cut Copy and Drapht.

Celebrating its 25th year, the ARIA's also paid tribute to The Wiggles and Kylie Minogue with both acts inducted into the ARIA Hall Of Fame.
