"First Sparkle" is a collaboration between two Italians who do it better, Carlo Dall'Amico (Cécile) and Matteo Lavagna (Refleksie), Milan natives who've previously collaborated as part of sunbaked dance outfit Esperanza (Gomma). "First Sparkle" is their stepping out, a wonky, punk funk uptown express built from disco drums, an oddball sample and a couple of hungry basslines, one from Lavagna and one from Dall'Amico's trusty 303. It's a chugging melange of staple dance music elements that could have rocked a dancefloor in Italy in '79, New York in '82, London in 2002, and with any luck, any discoteca with a pulse today.
