Formed in 2011, Los Angeles-based synth-pop duo Night Club, comprised of vocalist Emily Kavanaugh and producer Mark Brooks released their self-titled debut EP in 2012. Following its release the duo made their first radio performance on famed DJ Rodney Bingenheimer's Rodney on the Roq. A year later their second EP, Love Casualty was released. From then on Night Club's music has since appeared in multiple televison shows, including MTV's Awkward and Jersey Shore, as well as Style Network's XOXO Betsey Johnson.
And now today, Night Club return with the music video for their sexually charged cover of Australian rock legends INXS's 1987 #1 hit single "Need You Tonight".
In regards to the song Night Club explains, "We chose 'Need You Tonight' to cover for a few reasons. There's a dark, desperate, and sexy loneliness to the song (and INXS/Michael Hutchence for that matter) that we personally relate to. Also, musically, our new songs are moving towards a funkier, darker feel. We realized that the song was a natural fit for our band, even though the original is mainly guitar-based. We thought it'd be cool to hear the song with only synths and a female singer."
"Need You Tonight" will appear on Night Club's third EP Black Leather Heart, which will be released worldwide on iTunes, Amazon, and Spotify on September 2nd.
