LAYNE - Warrior

Los Angeles-based indie-pop singer/songwriter Layne Putnam, aka LAYNE has just unveiled her new single "Warrior", co-produced with Devon Corey (Comeback Kid, The Material) and the title track taken from her forthcoming EP sheduled for release on January 2nd.

Originally raised in Rapid City, nestled near Mount Rushmore in the Black Hills of South Dakota, LAYNE is a young, restless spirit intent on discovering new geographic, as well as sonic territories. She attributes the natural curiosity that inspires her music to the scenic hills that shaped her childhood experiences. "Growing up in the Black Hills gave me the desire to want to explore and invent," she explains. Geography was not the only major influence on the young artist. Her father, Kenny Putnam, a professional fiddle player with many credits including Grammy and Emmy nominations, and work with the renowned Red Willow Band and the Roy Clark band with whom he recorded, appeared on Hee Haw and as a regular and performed around the world and forty eight states in the US.

In 2011, LAYNE was selected to attend Grammy Camp in held in Los Angeles, CA. as part of the Songwriting track. During the Grammy Awards week, Layne met up with other Grammy Campers in Murfreesboro, TN. The group centered at Nathan Adam’s Walnut House Recording Studio where they recorded songs and from there explored Nashville.

By the time she was 16, she released her debut album entitled Better Than Me on Maxine Audiophile/Rockfan Records. A year later she released an EP called Mind Games. By this time she was playing almost every weekend at different venues throughout South Dakota. Immediately after graduating high school, LAYNE packed up and moved to Los Angeles.

LAYNE says, "It's always amazed me that a song written by someone after intense heartbreak or loss can change the life of someone else. It is somewhere I can always go to not feel alone, and I want others to meet me there."
