Following on from the release of her debut EP, Blood Sweat Tears earlier this year, 24-year-old Bristol-born, South London-based alt-pop songstress Harper returns today with her new single entitled "Skin", which also serves as the first single and title track to be lifted from her forthcoming EP, due out this Friday (July 29th) via ICU Label.
On "Skin", Harper delivers a sensual, sultry vocal over a pulsing electro beat with an instantly addictive hook, singing "I will be there for you / Let me cover you like skin". Trading the brooding, emotive intensity of "Blood Sweat Tears" for a sassier, urban-infused style and bold attitude, "Skin" demonstrates the versatility of an artist ready to confidently tackle a range of genres.
Speaking 0n the track, Harper says:
"'Skin' is an earthy, raw, alt-pop record with a much deeper concept than you may perceive from first impressions. I wanted to write about the properties of 'skin'; how it's our protective barrier from the world, it's power to heal when cut, and apply that sentiment to my love for a person."
