Pontea - Bitches Having Babies

Having released her empowering pop anthem, aptly titled "Power" earlier this summer, emerging Los Angeles-based electro-pop/R&B artist Pontea (pronounced "Pon-ta") returns today with a totally different but equally empowering new single called "Bitches Having Babies", a spunky, hip-hop-infused track that is sure appeal to listeners who are growing tired of scrolling through their news feeds on social media and seeing posts from friends for weddings, gender reveal parties, baby pics, and all the other #adulting updates.

Sure to be a club bounce as well as a societal mirror, "Bitches Having Babies" will resonate with both women and men alike who are surrounded by peers starting families of their own. In the song, Pontea sings: "Don't be offended when you hear this song" to all the mamas out there. After a few moments of listening, you begin to see the song is not simply tongue-in-cheek but for what it really is, an empowerment anthem, inspiring ladies all around the world to live life by their own rules, regardless of societal pressure, or a biological clock.

"Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely adore children and want kids someday," Pontea said about the track. "But I felt like so many peers around me were getting married and having babies way before I was even in the ballpark of wanting that transition. In the studio one day, I was asked how my traditional Persian parents felt about me having a career in music as opposed to a more conventional career (aka marriage and kids). And I responded: 'Well, all these bitches are having babies and I'm in the studio making songs, I'm sure you can imagine how they feel.' Then the song was born."

Co-written with Nicole Medoro and co-produced with J.o.s.e, "Bitches Having Babies" showcases Pontea’s cross-genre skillset over a mixed pop/trap beat. Dance-worthy and playful, this song is a departure from the rest of her music catalog, exuding independence through a blunt and hilarious point of view.
