Having spent the last three years working as a video presenter at an Australian music media publication surrounded by the narratives and stories of some of the world’s biggest artists, including Troye Sivan, Vance Joy, Fall Out Boy, The Vamps, and Montaigne, just to name a few, 22-year-old Sydney-born artist Sarah Wolfe (aka, Sarah McManus), steps on on her own today with the release of her debut single called "Devil U Know", which was written and produced in collaboration with real-life partner Xavier Dunn (Jack River, CXLOE, Graace, Peking Duk, etc), in the first few weeks after the two started dating.
Sensual, all-encompassing and oozing with a glossy sheen, "Devil U Know" revolves around the intricacies and vulnerabilities that surface during the early stages of a burgeoning love, it's the type of moody pop track that has the potential to re-frame even the most fervent naysayers of the genre. With a vital, rattling trap beat cradling its luminescent melodies that soar with emotional intensity, "Devil U Know"s lyrics offer a sense of total hyper-realism with the song coming together during the first few weeks of Wolfe and Dunn’s relationship. According to Wolfe, the song was written "about those first few weeks of a relationship when you’re still testing each other."
