21-year-old Los Angeles-based alt-pop artist Makena first came to our attention back in 2017 with her debut single, "3am" and again with its follow-up "Run Away." Now after a year-long hiatus and after spending months writing and recording with Denver producer Joseph Shull, Makena returns today with her long-awaited new single called "fuqboi worktape", a fierce and cheeky tune that just about anyone in the modern dating world can relate to.

Bringing a candid and vulnerable edge to pop, Makena expresses her life experience through an ever-evolving musical channel of honest lyrics, infectious hooks, and a fusion of various genres. As a fan of many genres, Makena has experimented with multiple styles over the years and continues to expand her horizons. She balances heartfelt sentiment with attitude that take the listener through the roller coaster of emotions that go along with navigating life in the 21st century.

Speaking on the track, Makena says:

"I feel like we all have gotten out of bad relationships and were like ‘Ugh that was such a red flag! I should have known it was going to end badly.'"
