Kathleen Mary Lee - Hours Gone By

Melbourne-based folk singer/songwriter Kathleen Mary Lee has just unveiled the music video for her strikingly beautiful debut studio single, "Hours Gone By".

Described as a female Leonard Cohen, Lee's inspiration lies in beautiful storytelling. Her sound can be characterised by its lullaby-like melody, haunting vocal style and lyrical artistry as best represented here in "Hours Gone By", which is sure to stir your soul. Listen as Lee takes us deep into the heart with this melancholy ballad of kindness and pain. With hints of Baez and Travers, her voice has a nostalgic feel as it wavers over a mournful guitar. The song is a sad one but there is a touch of sweetness when it swells into its hypnotic refrain. The subtlety of the instrumentation and the poetry of the lyrics give a timeless quality to this beautiful song of loss and longing.

With two home recorded records already released, All the While I was Waiting (2011) and I Pass By (2012), Lee is currently working on her first studio album. In the meantime, "Hours Gone By" is available now as a free download via Bandcamp and triple j Unearthed.
