EXES - twentythousand

We're been following Los Angeles-based electronic-pop duo EXES for quite some now and over the past few months, the pair, comprised of vocalist Allie McDonald and producer Mike Derenzo, have consecutively released on brilliant track after another, with their most recent track "18" garnering support from reputable music blogs like Kick Kick Snare and The 405. Now EXES return to present us with their delicate and dreamy new song, "twentythousand", which also serves as the latest installment in their one song a month series.

Speaking on the track, EXES tells us in an e-mail:

"Basically it's about falling in love for the first time. It's about how once you take that blind leap 20,000 feet into unknown territory you will change. Our first loves tend to have this hold on us. Somehow, even after years, we're haunted by our first fall. It truly is the hardest break of all."
