Raised in Dumfries, Scotland but now based in Brighton, 25-year-old singer/songwriter Bethany Smith, who goes by the moniker Sapling has just unveiled her new single called "Real Life", which was produced by her brother, Nathan Smith, aka Octo Champ.
Speaking on the track, Bethany says:
"'Real Life' was really a song written to myself. Its a forceful sentiment of being able to see far beyond everything that comes instinctively and naturally to me. In 'Cross the Green Mountain', Bob Dylan sings 'Look upward, beyond'. At the risk of it sounding like too much of a cliché, Dylan's music is more of a life influence for me rather than a song-writing one, but that phrase has stuck with me for years and its something I really try to focus on."
Listen to "Real Life" along with her previous single, "Edge" below and stay tuned for more new music from Sapling as she is currently working on her debut EP, which is expected to drop sometime later this year.
