Kenya-born, Canada-based alternative-soul powerhouse vocalist Nuela Charles has just dropped her latest offering entitled "Danger", which also serves as the third single following "Do It Right" and "Troublemaker" to be lifted from her forthcoming EP, Distant Danger, set for release on October 19th. Produced by Ryan Worsely (Dear Rouge, Said The Whale), "Danger" is a ritzy return for the audacious pop and soul fusion Nuela shares with steady pizzazz. The addictive tones of the single start from the outset – marriages of guitars that dart around the mix under Nuela's silky notes, and a slinky strut of a pre-chorus where on-beat bass pedals and lyricism simply scream "sass"; "be a little bit of rough if you let me, kind of tough if you get me (get me)". Vocal effects are used tastefully during parts of the track, adding an extra alternative dynamic to the composition, making for a sumptuous sound.
Speaking on the track, Nuela says:
"'Danger' is a song that came out of a writing session that wasn't even meant for me. We (production duo Towers, and I) had a guest writer in that day (Drew Shalka), and weren't even thinking about writing for my own project. A day after the session, the hook was still stuck in my head, and I knew we had something special. Produced by Vancouver-based Ryan Worsley, an award-winning record producer and songwriter, we finessed the song and finished it together. Lyrically, it's kind of cheeky and ultimately is just a plea for a more exciting kind of relationship. Who doesn't want to be swept away, in an epic romance?!"
