Brooklyn-based artist Chloe Lilac has today unveiled the visuals for her new single, "Summer." Taking cues from the 1995 coming-of-age cult classic film, Kids, the whimsical video follows Chloe and friends' summertime meanderings around her native Brooklyn.
Released back in early September, "Summer" has already garnered 700K+ streams on Spotify with critical acclaim from outlets like Elevator Magazine, who described how Chloe's "unique vocals shine over the ambient instrumental," while NYLON proclaimed, "Lilac's raspy voice and the thumping beat of the drums give this song the perfect end-of-summer mood."
Chloe Lilac is quickly gaining a following for her unique lo-fi stylings and raw lyrical content rooted in personal youthful experiences. Her distinct bedroom-pop style is cast through a nostalgic lens on "Summer," of which Chloe describes:
"Summer 2018 was a very pivotal summer for me in my adolescent years. It’s a summer that I’ll never forget, and I felt an overwhelming desire to express it. That, and being a kid in New York City is such a magical reality I live that I’m extremely grateful for. I feel like this song really encompassed those experiences for me."
