Yianna - Heavy Waters

Brooklyn-based alt-R&B pop songstress Yianna has today released her highly anticipated sophomore single called "Heavy Waters",the follow-up to her debut "Ordinary Love" which was released late last year and has already garnered over 50,000 plays on Spotify.

Drawing influence from alt-rock, pop, R&B and soul, Yianna creates music that is completely unrestricted by traditional genre boundaries. There is a raw vulnerability to Yianna's musicality that is wise beyond her years as she taps into a soulful energy that is often absent from today's pop hits. When Yianna was just 18, she dropped out of college to pursue music. Knowing nothing about the music industry, songwriting, or production - she wanted to become an artist. After trying her hand at it and extensively gigging around the tristate area in various coffee shops and subway stations (all under fake names since she didn't want anybody to know her identity), Yianna believed it was time to quit music and start applying to schools again. Just as she was on the cusp of enrolling in a military program, she was urged by those close to her to try with music one last time. Feeling more encouraged than ever, she dove head-first into writing, more determined than ever. Now with more music set to be rolled out this year, Yianna is a name you're going to want to keep on your radar.
