Ahead of her upcoming headline show next week at the Hoxton Bar & Kitchen on March 9th, London-based artist Espa has today unveiled her new single titled "141". Co-produced by longtime collaborators Tim Deal, Todd Oliver and John Calvert, Espa's new single marks a departure from her darker, more left field productions of her earlier releases. The track features Espa's distinctive, soaring soul-pop vocal throughout, which describes the agonising breakdown of communication as a relationship comes to an end, as she sings: "I'm dialing your number after 141, cos you won’t respond." The collaborative approach to her creative process has seen her enlist the top flight of talent to write with, such as UK rapper Giggs and Erick 'The Architect' Elliott of US hip hop collective Flatbush Zombies on her previous single "Swan Song".
Speaking on the track, Espa says:
"'141' is a mishmash, patchwork quilt of a song which so poetically maps out my journey as an artist and a human being in the last year, I hope it clearly signposts the new direction for my sound."
Listen to "141" below.
"141" will be released on April 8th.
Premiere via Complex.
