Introducing New York City-based (via London) singer/songwriter Ella Rae, who has today unveiled her debut single entitled "Someone Else". A well-crafted indie pop gem from start to finish, "Someone Else" instantly kicks off with frenetic synths, plucky guitar, and dancing keys before Ella's clear and delicate vocals comes in imploring listeners to "give up control, let yourself go." Reflective of her travels and writing sessions around the world, the song was written in Nashville, recorded in New York with producer Doug Schadt (Maggie Rogers, Wet) and mixed in London by David Oversby-Powell (Years & Years, Ellie Goulding).
Speaking on the track, Ella says:
"'Someone Else' was written for the free spirit. However, there is a sense of trouble and sadness that reveals as the song goes on. While it is about being free, it's also about trying to keep it together."
