London-based singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Bel Ehresmann, aka Bellatrix has today unveiled her debut single called "Still Lookin For" ahead of it’s first play on BBC Radio 1 tonight and as a part of a guest mix by contemporary soul singer
Nao. Featuring jangling percussion and slick harmonies, the track’s lyrics are at the heart of the sound. "
It's about the quest to be re-united with this wild and powerful creature beneath all our layers of conditioning," Bellatrix explains. With backgrounds in both jazz and beatboxing (World champion from 2009-2012) combined with influences such as Sun Ra, Kate Bush and Erykah Badu, Bellatrix has a truly exciting and unique musical palette that has culminated in a contemporary and fresh debut record; a percussive urban blend with an attitude that sits somewhere between Georgia, MIA and Girli. Bellatrix's forthcoming debut EP, due out in February, was produced by production duo
Exmoor Emperor, who, along with Bel, share a studio in Stoke Newington with a handful of other musicians and producers, including Nao.
