Elline - Smoke + Mirrors

Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter and Berklee College of Music graduate Elline has today unveiled the rather stunning visuals for her debut single, "Smoke + Mirrors", directed by fashion photographer Yves Huy Truong. The track was produced by SUR and Felipe Mejia Saldarriaga and serves as the first single to be lifted from her forthcoming 4-song debut EP, Stained Glass, due for release on October 7th.

Speaking on her EP, Elline says:

"To me, stained glass is a powerful metaphor for how we see life and for how life reveals itself to us. All 4 songs revolve around that theme, and were written as a personal reminder that strength, love and courage comes from within. Kassandra - Lovefool

Having recently signed to Capitol Records Sweden, up-and-coming Stockholm-based singer/songwriter Kassandra Widmark, better known as simply Kassandra, who fist came to our attention earlier this year with her single, "Run", has just unleashed her rather impeccable renditions of fellow swedes, The Cardigans' 1996 mega-hit single, "Lovefool".

Speaking on the track, told Spinnup:

"I often sing karaoke with my friends and have always wanted to do a serious attempt on a cover. I love how music is so movable, open and adaptable to new landscapes and atmospheres. I felt that 'Lovefool' had fuel left to burn because unlike humans a song actually never dies. In my version the message has moved from an unrequited love story to another universal aspect; Today everyone in this western society convulsively strives to be loved, admired and accepted, all to justify our existence. It may be the case that I'm singing to my own ego and demons too."

BYRN - Electrify

New York City-based singer/songwriter Amber Louros, otherwise known as BYRN has just unveiled the music video for her debut single, "Electrify" produced by Danny McBride and taken from her forthcoming debut EP, Dreams Are Easy, due out November 10th.

Speaking on her EP, BYRN told Vents Magazine:

"Dreams are easy because they aren’t ‘real’. Reality is hard. We put so much weight on reality because we feel more tied to it. Things happen in reality that hurt us, and dreams are an escape. While I was writing this EP, something happened that changed me forever. I experienced a huge loss in my life, and dreams always brought her back. Like she never left. Dreams have been my therapy, and the title of my EP reflects this idea."

Etta Bond - Seen And Never Heard

Cambridge-born, London-based artist Etta Bond has has just unveiled the music video for her new single, "‘Seen And Never Heard".

The collaborative release from Etta Bond and Chris Loco combines the silky smooth dulcet tones of Bond’s singing; lyrics which are beautifully balanced between deeply emotional and seemingly innocuous plus a mellow beat that give the song a vibe which is simultaneously intoxicating and chilled out. "‘Seen and Never Heard"’ has been tipped as their sonic epitome of their musical partnership with its 90's reminiscent blissed-out vibes and underlying feminist statement.

Alexa Melo - Bleach

21-year-old (today is her birthday) Massachusetts-born, Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist Alexa Melo has just unveiled the music video for her new single, "Bleach" taken from her eponymous debut album released earlier this summer.

Speaking on the track, Alexa explains that "Bleach" was written while she was tied up in an unpleasant major record label deal and it's, "about fighting the outside pressure to eliminate flaws within yourself that make you who you are."

Of some of the more graphic imagery in the video, she says it depicts her "attempt to kill off parts of myself in order to make others around me satisfied, but never successfully doing so because those parts of me can't be silenced. With each blow to the head, instead of death being the result, beauty and art are created. Even though I fall to the ground, I'm always able to get back up again."

Micky Blue - Wild Things

Miqui Brightside (feat. Demmy Sober) - Like Lovers Do

Spanish producer (and photographer) Miqui Brightside has just dropped his first original single called "Like Lovers Do" featuring 22-year old Belgium-born singer Demmy Sober. The track is lifted from his forthcoming debut EP, Green Heart, due for release on October 8th.

Speaking on the track, Miqui says:

"I wrote to Demmy as soon as I had the beat. I knew the lyrics and the melody, I had the ideas for the song from the first moment so I think that's why I think is the one I like the most. I wanted to have a tune [where] the beat could be sung over or have some hip hop acapella dropped on it on it."

Halsey, who in case you don't already know by now is the stage name of 20-year-old New Jersey-born singer/songwriter Ashley Frangipane, has just unveiled the post-apocalyptic visuals for her anthemic new single, "New Americana", which serves as the latest single to be taken from her critically acclaimed debut album, Badlands, out now via Astralwerks.

Speaking on the track, Halsey says:

"I think, most importantly, the song is self-aware. It's a satire on a generation that is so poignantly aware it's become a parody. For me, the song mentions my mixed-race upbringing in a very tongue-in-cheek way, 'raised on Biggie and Nirvana'... Overall, it's just a call to arms for the people in this generation (including myself) who used to be a part of counter culture that has become the norm. It's this idea of these kids who are part of a generation where pop culture is so heavily influential that diversity doesn't scare them the way it scared our parents and their parents. We’re more accepting of different walks of life. So I think the New Americana is racially ambiguous, people who are proud of their culture and they own it, possibly not from a binary of gender".

Lilly Wolf - Terrible Mistake

Brooklyn-based electro-pop trio Lilly Wolf, led by lead vocalist Lilly Wolfson alongside producer Alex Neuhausen, aka Dr. Nu and live drummer Tareq Almulaifi, have just shared another new song from their new album Deleted Scenes called "Terrible Mistake".

Speaking on the album, Lilly told GroundSounds, who exclusively premiered a full stream of the album last week. "The album is about disappearance and information loss. Forgetfulness as a coping mechanism, the warping and dissolution of old memories. The unseen parts of a person's head, the dark invisible mind, the way society is complicit in hiding and rug-sweeping. Things we do that no one sees."

DAGNY - Backbeat

Introducing Tromsø, Norway-born solo artist Dagny Sandvik, aka DAGNY, who has today unveiled her debut single, "Backbeat". The track had its radio premiere on Zane Lowe's Beats 1 radio show last night, and premiered online this morning via The Line Of Best Fit.

Over the last 12 months or so DAGNY has been actively writing and performing both locally and internationally. She has toured Norway as a solo artist, as well as with her four piece band. In 2013, she went on the first of her 'Living Room' tours. Since then she’s been arranging these tours annually, performing to thousands of fans as a result.

Selling out her debut London headline show at The Old Queens Head towards the end of last year - based purely on word of mouth, DAGNY’s return to the stage this month saw her play two more extremely well received shows, culminating in a fiery performance to a packed out Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen crowd.

Speaking on the track, DAGNY says:

"From the day we wrote 'Backbeat' it's been a track full of energy. When I play it live it allows me to really let go and this is how I hope people will feel when they put it on."

VÉRITÉ - Sober (Childish Gambino Cover)

Fast-rising New York City-based singer/songwriter Kelsey Byrne, aka VÉRITÉ has today unveiled her rather striking rendition of Childish Gambino's "Sober", produced by Zach Nicita (who also produced her song "Colors" off her sophomore EP, Sentiment, released earlier this year). "I really loved the original, and wanted to be able to reimagine it and make it feel like my own," VÉRITÉ explained. Lost Kings (feat. Jessame) - Bad

Since first coming together less than two years ago, Los Angeles-based DJ/production duo Lost Kings, comrpised of Robert Gainley and Dr. No, have continuously offered up one killer remix after another for some of this year's best new artists such as Tori Kelly, Halsey, Hayley Kiyoko and Rozes, among many more others. However, today the boys are back to present us with their first official single called "Bad", which features guest vocals from fellow LA crooner Jessame and serves as the lead track to be lifted from their forthcoming 3-song debut EP due for release on October 23rd via Spinnin' Records.

Speaking on the track, Lost Kings told Idolator (who premiered the single): "'Bad' really speaks to who we are as musicians and transmits feel good vibes. We wanted to attain that old funk sound, mixed with some disco/R&B vocals. We really tried to create something timeless. We feel it’s a perfect blend of some of the sounds that inspire us most."

CuckooLander - Mother Nature

Following on from last year's release of her eponymous 3-song debut EP, London-based singer/songwriter Holly Hardy, aka CuckooLander makes a welcome return today with the music video for her new single, "Mother Nature", which she recorded with French producer Dimitri Tikovio, who's worked with artists such as Placebo, Charli XCX, and Paloma Faith.

Speaking on the video, Holly says:

"With the video we wanted to bring back elements of educational videos you would watch at school mixed with retro TV shows like Art Attack, Blue Peter, The Really Wild Show and Newsround. We mixed some 80’s analog documentary footage with our own footage just because I wanted to go on a woodland hunt to find things like odd pieces of wood, colorful eggs and skulls. My pet snails Party Boy and Mingey also take starring roles in the video and totally outshine me."
